The illustrations were inspired by the visual culture of Victorian England and colonial India, preserving the atmosphere, architecture, costumes, and decorative details that shaped Sara Crewe’s world.
Special attention was given to Sara Crewe’s inner world—her imagination, dreams, and ability to maintain dignity and hope in difficult circumstances. Through visual storytelling, I aimed to emphasize the power of thought and inner light that help the heroine transform the world around her.
